Truex Jr. Favored to Grab Checkered Flag in Quaker State 400

Odds to win the Quaker State 400

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is back in action with the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway following a rain-shortened race at Daytona International Speedway last week. Justin Haley was the beneficiary of the rain last week, collecting his first Cup Series win at the tender age of 20, but looking at Kentucky Speedway, it is Martin Truex Jr. at +350 who holds the top odds to drive to victory lane.

Online sportsbook Intertops has Truex as the favorite at +350 followed by Kyle Busch at +500, Kevin Harvick at +550, Brad Keselowski at +700, Joey Logano at +800, Chase Elliott at +1000 and Kyle Larson at +1200 to round out the top drivers on the oddsboard.

Standout Stats

  • Toyota has won five of the eight total Cup Series races run at Kentucky Speedway, with Ford grabbing two and Dodge winning the other.
  • The winner at Kentucky has qualified in the top two in five of the eight runnings at that track. Only one winner has qualified outside of the top 10 and that was Matt Kenseth in 2013.
  • Kyle Busch (+500) has led 30 or more laps in five of the eight races at Kentucky, winning the inaugural race in 2011 and returning to victory lane in 2015. He has finished in the top five in six of the eight races.
  • Brad Keselowski (+700) has three victories at Kentucky, leading 30 or more laps in six of the eight runnings. In the only two races in which he didn’t lead a lap, he finished many laps down and outside of the top 30. Additionally, he has qualified in the top 10 in all of the races there.
  • Martin Truex Jr. (+350) aims to match Brad Keselowski for the most wins at Kentucky with three after winning back-to-back runnings at this track. He has increased his dominance at Kentucky over the last three races, leading 46, 152 and 174 laps respectively.
  • Kevin Harvick (+550) is third on the oddsboard but I don’t see why. Harvick has yet to drive to victory lane this season, although he has shown signs of life recently, but he hasn’t finished better than fifth in any start at Kentucky and has only led laps in one running there.

My Best Bets for the Quaker State 400:

Martin Truex Jr. (+350)

Brad Keselowski (+700)

These two drivers have been dominant at this track, winning five of the eight total races and four of the last five. Additionally, Toyota and Ford have won seven of the eight Kentucky runnings. Lastly, those two manufacturers have won five of the six 1.5-mile tracks in 2019 so I think these two are strong plays for this Saturday night.
